Hi koonman. The main thing you have to keep in mind when upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7/Windows 8 is whether the system meets the system requirements and that the system has Windows 7/Windows 8 drivers available.

Check on the manufacturers website for your system model and see if there are Windows 7 drivers that can be used if you decide to upgrade.

I am not sure by what you mean here. Can you please clarify? Thanks.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Always best to never upgrade an operating system.
Upgrade = install new operating system from within the existing one, retaing some preferences and files.

It's best to backup your files, erase the hard drive and install the new operating system fresh and clean.

You should run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to determine if your system is up to the task, regardless of whether you intend to upgrade or make a clean install.

For apps that require XP and will not run in 7 you can run either Windows XP Mode (in 7 Pro & Higher) or XP in a virtual machine (eg Virtual Box).

XP mode includes a free copy of XP Pro, for Virtual Box you will need a retail copy of XP.

My question is I was used customer design program (as same as C++/VB) that customer make software.

that agency said not support W7, if need support W7, sorry!

But my computer is look so bad, I think will be died coming soon...
if today year 2012/13 to buy that new computer, ONLY choose W7/W8.

Hi , check your regional MS support site for offers but in mine if one purchases a new at retail computer with oem Windows 7 between certain dates , then you can purchase online a Windows 8 upgrade for little more than $10
So there might be very low cost new-old-stock item computers soon offered with oem Windows 7 as the stores try to sell old stock
