Upgrade Precautions

    I am going to uppgrade my current motherboard to a newer more better one.

    Are there any precautions that i should do before going on with this?

    It's almost a 50/50 chance that windows will choke to death when finds the new mobo. Meaning it might not bootup...

    With the variety of CPUs and RAM modules available it is worth double checking that your current ones are compatible with the new motherboard. Some suppliers offer bundles (CPU, RAM & motherbaord) and these help you avoid any compatibility issues.

    Oh for the days of Socket 7!

    Amen to this. The first time that I upgraded my board and CPU, I wound up having to replace the RAM & HD also (not all that more expensive, but more than I had planned on paying for). I recommend contacting the board manufacturer to find out what components THEY use for bench testing.

    I am upgrading because my current board is not AGP 8X and doesnt have alot of components built in.
