Resolved [Updates for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 will not install]

    Using the advice at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839547, the workaround installed .NET 1.1. .NET repair Tool taking too long to wait for successful installation.
    Will verify when it is finished.
    Thank you, Arie, for advice on running later versions. I pursue this repair because I could not completely uninstall v. 1.1 and all its folders per MS support:

    I think that the problem is solved. Using some Fixdotnet utilities, the removal and replacement seems to have occurred.
