If you have the latest WinPatrol there is an option to disable startup programs and many other helpful tabs to access if you right click on WinPatrol in quick launch. Some friends I know don't use Msconfig, but prefer to have WinPatrol installed for these purposes.

I have recently downloaded and installed StartEd Lite which gives even more options for fine tuning Windows 7 in my case.

    regards,

Probably the reason why Microsoft removed that capability from msconfig in Windows 8 and moved it to the Task Manager instead.

You need to let us know the results...

I check what an item in the startup list "does" before disabling it, checking with websearches.

If you disable your AntiMalware, it might re-enable itself :) (hopefully)
