I am having an issue with one of the non-admin profiles on my PC. IE 6 is not always responding when trying to access the internet. When I try to close the window I receive a message, see attached, stating the program is non-responsive. I am not sure if this an IE or system issue.

    ErrorMessages.doc

I am not sure if this matters, but my McAfee ran its scheduled scan and came up with the following detection:

    Artemis!13D569D59867

I am not sure if it is an issue since it is located in my ATI video card folder that is not on the C drive.

    Thank you

Post the message here - not on an obscure site - thanks.

As Pete suggests, I won't download a file from any source...

But IE6 is completely inadequate and insecure. You'll need to upgrade to IE8 ASAP.

Also, please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

My apologies for not posting here. I wasn't sure if it was an IE issue vs. a OS issue. However, I did just recently get a clean bill of health from your website and was not sure if this issue was related.

I realize IE 6 is a little outdated, but I do prefer it over 7 or 8. Also, I have never had any issues before. I have been using Firefox recently and have not experienced any issues with it. Is there anything I should do, other than upgrade? I also understand the reluctancy to download. The attachment contains screenshots of the error messages I recevied.

My PC profile has been updated.

I thank you again for your help.

IE6 is not a little outdated, it is obsolete. If you use IE6 it is not a question if you will get infected, but just when.

And again, if you want help, you'll have to post the error messages here.

You have missed out on the final step :) .....
You do appreciate that you can turn off Tabbed browsing if that irritates you although, as you use Firefox, I doubt that is an issue.

If IE6 is causing problems in one profile only it may suggest a problem with the profile. I suggest you create a new profile and transfer the old settings across .....

How to copy data from a corrupted user profile to a new profile in Windows XP

Another option, in the original profile is to run IEFix - I'd be doubtful of the effectiveness of this, but maybe worth a try.

Our recommendation to upgrade to 8 stands though.

    Read this latest example:

Attack code used to hack Google now public

Anyone still running IE6 just wants to get hacked/infected!
