I want to switch from Netscape 8 to IE 6 as my default browser. I have followed the procedure below but even after a restart, Netscape is still my default browser:

    1. Open Control Panel and double-click Internet Options.
    2. Click the Programs tab.
    3. Click to select the Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser check box.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Start Internet Explorer and when you are prompted to make it the default browser, click Yes.

I have even gone into Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types and I have changed from Netscape to IE for htm, html, shtml and still no luck.

    Can you help? Thanks!

    Default browser solved!

The following solution I found out elsewhere worked on my machine :) :

    1. Control Panel
    2. Add/Remove Programs
    3. Set Program Access and Defaults
    4. Custom
    5. Choose default web browser

Good ol' Windows XP, offering so many different methods, but only one works depends on your machine!

    Happy Holidays :)
