I have a problem with my MS Office Word 2007, when I try to open a document this error pops up "There is not enough memory or disk space to run Word." Same goes with Excel, PowerPoint and etc. Anyone know why that happens?

My MS Office 07 is installed on a 70.9 GB drive with a free space of 11.9 GB. I've tried running CCleaner and also tried Microsoft Support Resolutions, but they didn't work. Do you guys think I should free up some space on my drive? Any help would be gladly appreciated. :)

How much memory do you have and what is running besides one of the Office programs at the same time? Did this just start?

Yes it only started last week. I have 1.50 GB of RAM and my OS is Windows XP. Even if there's no other programs running, when I try to open Word the error still pops up.

    Renaming the global template (Normal.dot).

I found two Normal files inside my Templates folder. Normal.dot and Normal.dotm. I both renamed them OldNormal.dot and OldNormal.dotm but the problem is still there.

    Empty the Startup folder

My Startup folder and Word Startup folder are both empty.

Rename the Data and Options keys in the Windows Registry

I both renamed them OldData and OldOptions. But no luck, the problem still occurs.

The instruction I gave you the link for did not relate to Normal.dotm. I would go back and reverse the alteration to that file. Then see if it has worked.

If there is still no improvement, try creating a new user account, as suggested earlier. If that doesn't work then I would uninstall Office and re-install it.

    I tried only renaming Normal.dot to OldNormal.dot. I still can't open Word.

Created a new account but still no luck, I can't open Word. When I try to uninstall MS Office this setup error shows, "This product installation has been corrupted. Run setup again from the CD, DVD, or other original installation source. "

This is suggesting you have one of two problems. A malware/virus infection or your hard drive is failling. First, I would make a back up of all your important files just in case the hard drive does fail. Burning these to CD's or DVD's would be best to avoid the spread of any infections you may have.

Then, find the make and model number of your hard drive and do a search for the manufacturers site. There you should find a diagnostics download for dos CD. You will need to burn this to a CD using image burning software. If you don't have one use this free software http://www.isoimageburner.com/ Then boot the PC with the disk in the drive and run through the test to check the health of your hard drive.

    Report back with the reults.

I apologize for the very late reply.

The make.model no. of my hard drive is Hitachi HDS721616PLAT80. So I downloaded the Drive Fitness Test from PeteC's Hitachi link. Burned the ISO to a CD and booted the PC with the disk in the drive. I first ran Quick Test, the test results showed Operation Completed Successfully. Disposition Code = 0x00. I also tried Advanced Test and the same results showed.

There are more solutions offered in that article:

    • Rename the Data and Options keys in the Windows Registry
    • Empty the Startup folder

If you still have the problem after trying those, can you start Word in safe mode? (let's start with just word, just to try). Go to Start > Run and enter WINWORD.EXE /a

Also run a disk cleanup: Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup to delete Temporary files.

Something is obviously corrupted or the normal uninstall procedure would work. Follow this guide and then re-install.

Let us know how you get on.

I already tried those. See my #6 post.

Still the same error. "There is not enough memory or disk space to run Word. "

Done. But only Downloaded Program Files and Temporary Internet Files are checked. Should I also check Compress Old Files?

Downloaded Microsoft Fix It. When I opened it this error shows, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. "

Should I go proceed to the Let me fix it myself section?

Try disabling your firewall and any AV and try again, if that fails then try the manual repairs and report back.

It still doesn't work even if my firewall and AV are disabled. So I proceeded to the manual repairs.

After completing the steps, the uninstall was successful. Reinstalled Microsoft Office, opened Microsoft Word and its now finally working! Also tried PowerPoint and Excel, both are working good. The error doesn't show up anymore. Thanks a lot for the help guys! Much appreciated. :)
