TCP/IP Node type and network neighbourhood

What is your Node Type (only enter Unknown if the IPCONFIG output states "Unknown")

    The one main thing you can do with a hub that you can't do with a cheap switch - monitor all activity. I am very much a fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it ". Stick with the hub until you find a good reason to change it.

    I've closed this poll now. Thank you to everyone who participated.

    The findings were that many (50%) people's node type was set as "unknown ", and this appears to be the default setting for XP. However, on investigation, this doesn't appear to be a problem. The systems to revert to the default "broadcast" when the node type is set as "unknown ".

    So "Unknown" is a normal node type for XP and not something to worry about.
