In Autoruns remove the following items:

    rdpclip
    FAHConsole
    HotKeysCmds
    IgfxTray
    Persistance
    Realtek HD Audio Manager
    USB 3.0 Monitor
    Wondershare Helper Compact
    Microsoft Office
    HP Simple Save Monitor
Monitor Ink Alerts - HP OfficeJet Pro 8600
    Internet Explorer
    Windows Mail (Both Entries)

Reboot the computer after removing those items and see if the behavior still occurs.

Create a new "Shutdown" shortcut on your Desktop using the following for the command:

    C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe -s -t 0 -f

Now double-click that new Shortcut icon and see if it stays shutdown.

If not, check your CMOS/BIOS Settings and try and disable anything that refers to "Wake-on-LAN ", Wake-on-whatever.

Ok - will try that and post. Problem happened once more to me the other day and most of the time does not occur.

I have used both the suggested shortcut as well as now performing normal way of shutdown. Problem has not happened since my last post. I have no idea what is causing the occasional problem and as it is now not happening ( of course it will happen after this post ;) Murphy's Law I think?)

Will close this post and only repost if I ever find an answer .

Thank you all anyway for your help and suggestions.

I waited so long to post again as I wanted to see if it would happen again.
