I've been using Sygate since 2003 (Symantec can try to sell NPF until they're blue in the face). Is it still reliable as a firewall?

Simple answer, yes. It does what it was designed to do and does it quite well.

    Hello dave,

Use it on my Laptop's XP MCE OS - next to last free version v5.5.2710

Echo Whiskeyman's comment. Of all the FW's I've used, still my fav.

Sygate never did fix the bug concerning running a proxy and the loopback address though. In that bug, if using a proxy, Sygate doesn't monitor outbound processes.

    Regards - Charles

I agree. I started with Sygate. Tried several others - they all did what they were supposed to do but some were too labor intensive for me. Went back to Sygate.. Happy as a clam I am.

That's great to hear. I'm using a proxy so that bug means nothing to me :)
