AFAIK Sygate became part of Symantec and effectively 'vanished'. If you Google for Sygate Firewall you will see that the last version was 5.6 and was released 2004 - well before Vista. The chances of it working with Vista are nil.

Try Comodo - highly rated and Vista compatible.

I tried to install Sygate on my Vista Premium machine and got an error "you need to have administrator rights to install this program "

Nothing I tried would get it to install so I have to assume it isn't going to.

As much as I like Sygate, had to give it up for Comodo.

You can be anything you like under the sun, but if the software is not compatible it will not load.

it is not compatible with Vista.

I forget is the setup file for sygate a .msi file? If so google run msi file as administrator, there is a registry hack that allows you to right click and install msi files as admin. I have it backed up on my external hd now.

    Windows Vista and Sygate.

I'll be willing to bet when it says you have to have administrator rights, it meens that you have to be Administrator. It's not used very much but it's there. You have to enable it then log in as it. I think that only Business and Ultimate are able to use it. That is if its like XP was, only Pro was able to use Administrator. There are plenty of programs that came out before Vista that run on it, so it dosen't matter when it was made, just how well it was built.
