    ok, I have two questions...

    1. Would a DVD cd work? I don't have a blank CD...
    2. If that doesn't work, how much do you think it would cost for professional help?

    oh and also, how do you install the drive as a slave?
    could I connect my laptop to it or something?

    I doubt it, I can't think of any reason why a system would boot from DVD but not CD unless your drive was faulty.

    Given the numerous problems you've had this may be your best option, as for cost I couldn't say.

    It's probably better you don't, but...

    If you buy an external 3.5" PATA to USB enclosure then you should be able to connect the drive to your laptop.

    I would still advise seeking local professional help though.
