I don't know of the pedigree/effectiveness of BitDefender and have never used it so I can't really comment. It is always possible that it is finding false positives. If you are interested in pursuing this further start a new thread in this forum for other views,

FYI - I was a long time user of Norton Antivirus on both my desktop and laptop until I got fed up with it's bloat and cost and switched to eTrust Antivirus on the desktop and AVG Free on the laptop.

For a long as I can remember I have used Kerio (now Sunbelt Kerio) as a firewall, although I switched to eTrust Firewall (basically the same engine as Zone Alarm) on the desktop when Kerio announced that it was discontinuing the free version (subsequently bought by Sunbelt).I use Sunbelt Kerio on the laptop.

This protection is coupled with Sunbelt Counterspy (based on the same Giant software that MS bought to turn into Microsoft AntiSpyware, now Windows Defender) on the desktop and Windows Defender on the laptop, plus SpywareBlaster, Spybot and Ad-Aware SE on both.

I run the IESpyads Internet Explorer restricted zones package on both computers and have, in the past used a custom Hosts file.

Internet Explorer is set up an both computers along the lines of Arie's article How to surf more safely with Internet Explorer (Windows XP SP2 version)

The desktop is connected 10/15 hours per day and I can honestly say that I have never picked up a virus or trojan - on either computer.

    is it really gone?

I've been looking at many sites concerning spyfalcon and atmclk.exe and i think i've removed it but now my computer is running much slower than it used to and all of the sounds files skip like an old bad record, i think my hijackthis file is clean and i can't find any evidence of the virus but my computer obviously still has something wrong, and i only had the virus for one day!

any ideas on what i might have missed?

Halfway There - Welcome to the Board :)
Not without seeing your HJT and SmitfraudFix logs.
I guess a few milliseconds is enough.

Please start a new thread in this forum and post the logs - fresh scans please and just the initial SmitfraudFix scan.
