    Regarding the OP; I think I had a similar Spybot problem a long time ago. I discovered it was some clash with an on-demand malware scanner that I had installed on the BT Yahoo! Toolbar. I have long uninstalled that toolbar (I rarely use Internet Explorer these days) & I can't remember the scanner make.

    This does sound suspiciously like a clash with some anti-malware program or filter list.
