SP3: Up your chances of a good install

    Hi Alicia, From my experiences so far I would follow Mike's instruction list regarding use of cleaners. ie. to remove Temp Files/Cookies. Then go to Windows Update and do Express check>install KB936929 (SP3) as it will have all the necessary Security patches and IE7 and WMP11.You would not have to worry about downloading KB950749. As I posted earlier, all 4 Computers (Home Built) are working perfectly OK and seem to be a little quicker than before the update. One has Avast AV and the other 3 AVG 8.0. No problems. Neil.:D

    No, it will not. The currently installed version of IE and WMP is retained but updated (I had and still have IE6 and WMP9). I would think that any installed version of IE and WMP gets updated.

    Installed SP3 today on a PC with XP SP2 Home edition. Still have my fingers and toes crossed. So far so good.
