Sure. Open Recycle Bin, and drag those other bookmark files to your desktop. Double click on each one, and those files will open in your default browser, so you can review them.

Hmmm, that didn't work. I dragged one to the desktop and when I double clicked on it I got a message saying, "Windows cannot open this file ".

What's the file name, and the extension?
    It should be something like:
    bookmarks.html

This is your bookmarks backup file (JSON). That extension is created, if you use Export function under Organize Bookmarks, to back up your bookmarks.
You can use same function to import that backup, but I think, this is the very same data, as you already have in bookmarks.html
You may check the dates of both files to see, which one is the later one.
The format is different, thus different file size.
    Any other files

Only other files are places.sqlite and places.sqlite-journal in the recycle bin.
Where do I find the html files?

Just tried to import the html but you have to know where the file is to import it.

You import only JSON type of file.
As for html file, you simply right click on it, and click Restore.

Then, open Windows Explorer, navigate to:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<Windows login/user name>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile folder> , and see if the file is there.

    Save the URL=bookmark this page.
As for a solution which works for me, p.2/reply #2 by broni, also works.
Personally, I have saved copies of my bookmarks.html file, either from the old days, or exported as HTML. And, files which are exported as HTML, are converted from from .json format, and one can, also, say that .html files, when imported are converted to the .sqlite/.json format of FF3. You don't need to know where files are in the profile, unless you need to delete anything.

Go Tools>Folder Options>View tab, put a checkmark next to Show hidden files, and folders.
    Restart Windows Explorer.

    This was the perfect solution.
I dragged the old bookmarks out of recycle and then did a restore.
    Never knew the feature existed.
By restoring various dates I was able to pick and choose the bookmarks I wanted. Worked great!
    Thx Briana!
And thx Broni and everyone else who contributed. :)

    Absolutly!!!

There seems to typically be more than one way to solve the issue - for me it's finding just one of them. :D
