:D Noahdfear, got it, it was in my anti virus file, found the file in the registry, deleted it and no more problems. I want to say thank you to all the forum peeps that helped. I'm going to save these pages because what I learned from you and LonnyJ is going to be invaluable in the future. The way I know that is like I said before that there is a lot of people that teach but they don't know how to communicate themselves. I took an A+ class and as much as they taught something was missing, anyway at least I'm on my way and thank you again,Andy1.

I'm glad you feel comfortable about what is and isn't trying to access the internet now, however, if it was indeed ashServ.exe, that was a quite normal thing for it to do.

As stated, it's part of the Avast AntiVirus software. You could have accomplished the same thing by uninstalling the program in Add/Remove programs, and also as stated previously, you should uninstall one AV or the other. ;)

Happy that my posts have been helpful. :)

:D For some reason I have no luck with the "add and remove programs ", at the to of each program it says click here to change or remove programs. And when I've wanted to change a program and I've clicked it, it don't change, it disappears. If you think I'm a newbie now you should have seen the mess I was into about a year and a half ago.
Noah, gotta ask you a question, if you have to harddrives in a box and you are using one of them is the other harddrive still spinning?
I did not remove the Avast program I just deleted the file where the trojan was at. I didn't know it was Avast til the end.
Which Anti-virus would you think is the best bet, AVG, Avast, or Trend-micro? Or none of the above?
Your posts have been more than helpful they've been educational, and thank you again, Andy1.

Some programs install with multiple 'optional' components, and/or a repair feature, which are the only ones that you can 'change' via Add/Remove. Without one of those, the program would be removed. One example of this would be Microsoft Office. Depending on the version, it has (at least) Word, Frontpage, Access, Excel, Outlook, Photo Editor, PowerPoint and Publisher all available upon installation. There are also many optional components that do not get installed unless you do a custom installation. If you need to repair any one of those programs, click 'change' and you will be given options to repair, add optional components or uninstall various components, or complete uninstall.

AVG, Avast and Trend are all good products. Can't honestly say I prefer one over the other, only that eTrust EZ Armor (Firewall and AntiVirus) is what I run on my computer, and am satisfied that I have good protection. ;)

I'm fairly confident that if a second drive is attached, power and data cables, when you apply power the disk spins, regardless of use. Maybe someone else will confirm.

    Hi Andy,

I have 3 HD's, one of which is an external HD in a drive cage. It's very obvious that it spins up when power applied, whether I'm using it not.

    Regards - Charles
