    Internet Explorer

Hello, IE did not install. however, I've taken a screenshot of the message that it brought up. I tried the ignore option first, that didn't work, then I tried the other option, that didn't work either. When I did the clean boot, after it shut down and started up again, it installed 3 updates, them shutdown, then applied the update operation. Thanks!

Just a quick update. Everything is pretty speedy right now after the clean boot.

So you performed the clean boot and IE11 still didn't install? Was the error message the same generic "Internet Explorer did not finish installing" that you received earlier?

I've read the troubleshooting guide, and I have 61 Windows Updates to install. I've downloaded them, it reached 7% trying to install, but would'nt. Then reverted changes, I checked and now no updates were available. I then went into the Windows Updates troubleshooter, it then lets me know that I have 61 updates available. I tried to install IE 11 and it still won't. Couple questions, Why do you think it won't let me install the updates and why is it necessary to install IE 11 when I don't use Internet Explorer? I use Firefox. Thanks for your help so far.

The reason why IE11 probably isn't installing is because you need to install other Windows Updates first as prerequisites. Even if you don't use IE11 you should still install the latest version to help keep your system secure.

I would install those 61 updates in groups of 5 updates or so while rebooting the computer in between and see if they install.

    Something else to try:
    1) Unplug your internet modem's power cord.
    2) Unplug your router's power cord. , if you have one
    3) Wait about 30 seconds.
    4) Plug JUST your internet modem's power cord back in.
    5) Wait until the modem full boots up, then plug your router's power cord back in.
    6) Reboot your pc.

    Does the above help ant?

Hi! I've finally got the updates installed except for two. I've taken a screenshot to show you. I have tried using the Update troubleshooter, and retried over and over again. Computer seems to be running a tad better, although still quite slow and videos and are still painfully slow with many hesitations. I tried the above instructions, no better. All other devices using internet are working fine. Thanks so far!

If you attempt to now install those remaining two updates which includes IE11 do you get an error message when the installation doesn't succeed?

Hi, The only thing I get is Windows Update telling me it has failed. See attached screenshot. I ran the Windows Fixit troubleshooter as well. Nothing.

I have a series of steps for you to follow so lets hope that IE11 installs successfully after completing the following procedures.

    1. Download the latest driver for your video adapter here, Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, Windows 7* 64, Windows Vista* 64 (exe). Reboot the computer after the installation finishes.

    2. Click Start< in the Start search box type Command Prompt. Right click on Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.

Once Command Prompt opens type sfc /scannow and hit enter. The process will take some time so be patient. Once SFC finishes, reboot the computer.

    3. Run the Microsoft Fix it from here, Fix problems that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled.

    4. Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool from here, System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821) [October 2014]. Reboot the computer after completing this final step and try installing IE11 again.
