    Hi Buck,

Each of the following avast! services is in the service group that was disabled by the tool I had you run.

avast! iAVS4 Control Service <---- Auto start
    avast! Antivirus <---- Auto start
avast! Mail Scanner <---- Manual start
avast! Web Scanner <---- Manual start

I'd like you to see if the 2 set to Auto start can be disabled. Click Start>Run and type services.msc then hit Enter. Double click on each of those service entries and change the Startup type to Disabled, if allowed, then click OK to exit. Once disabled, restart the computer and note the bootup time. If there's a noticeable improvement, reset one of them to Auto and restart to see if it is the one causing the issue. Be sure to test both services set as Auto start whilst the other is disabled.

I feared that might be the case. I'll re-install it tonight and see if I can figure something out.

Honestly Buck, you might start looking at other antivirus solutions. It's not free, but affordable, and I'd recommend taking a spin with a 30 day free trial of Kaspersky Internet Security Suite (best bang for the buck). ;)

Thanks again for all of the time you've spent working on this. May be I should try another antivirus program like AVG? Let me know what you recommend.....buck
