Sorry Chris my mistake I burnt two DVD's.

It won't fit on the disc if it is that big.

IC. Then I will bow out gracefully. Maybe time for an upgrade? I mean when I wrote the SP2 atricle (August 2004) Nero was at version 7...

    Doesn't work like that.

If XP SP1 CD = 535MB, you will end up with just under 600MB after slipstreaming. Like I said before, you should delete the DOTNETFX folder.

    UPDATE:
Tom, your apprentice is a Genius\Einstein\Savant compared to me. The first snag I ran into was "#2: Copy the whole contents . . . ". Well, right-click the XP CD, select Copy and paste to the XP folder; or, open the disk and copy the contents from the right pane? It can be read two ways. I tried the first and there was only one folder in the C:\XP folder (X1APCCP_EN) and I got the error (waaaay later on): You've only selected one folder!

The next snag was #4; "Once in the command prompt window type CD \." Then in #5 it says "Now type in this command Servicepack filename – x ". I did as instructed and got "bad command or file name ". #4 needs to have [Enter] after it. And, in #5, it needs to add that you have to type in the complete path to the the folder, and the spacing is wrong. It should read: C:\SP2.exe <space>-x. And it needs to have "Enter" after it.

    #6: Which command prompt? C:\Doc & Settings\Admistrator>, or C:\> ?

#10: It doesn't say to remove the XP CD.

Then I got "? Directory depth exceeds ISO9660 limit of 8 levels. # of directory levels in path: 9. # of most directory levels in path: 9. Continue anyway? "

I clicked Yes and it appeared to write to the CD. However, when I checked the CD, there was no BootImage.ima on the disk. Plus, judging from Arie's screenshot, I don't have "cmpnents, Win51ip.SP2, nor the MicrosoftCorporation.img" files\folders.

See, I told you your apprentice was a genius.

Chris do you have time for me to remotely pop onto your system and show you how to do it?

    If you do goto http://www.absolutelypc.co.uk

Click on the Remote Help Tab.

In the session code box type in: 45250871

    Click Connect.

It will ask you to run or save the file - Run It

It may ask you to run again or continue - say yes to whatever it asks.

The session code is valid for 1 Hour.

    UPDATE: Success!

    Hi all,

First off I wish to apologize to all of you for my thickheadedness. It turned out that there was one major glitch: PEBCAK (Problem Existed Between Chair And Keyboard). If breathing wasn't an autonomic function I'd be dead.

I was over thinking the instructions and was wondering where such and such a file was, or where so and so file went, etc., when I realized that the files, etc., were taken care of in step (something) of IMGBurn.

There were a few things I found (so far) that didn't work properly (Help & Support; had to use the Run: regsvr32 etc., to fix) and in the "Welcome To Windows" screen, the size of the window was waaaay off and there was no "Next" button to click. I had to hit Enter, but I only got a couple of screens ahead before Enter wouldn't work anymore. So, I did a hard shutdown and then I was at the Desktop. I'm going to do a little fooling around and see what else needs to be adjusted, but I'm sure I can tweak it.

Anyway, it booted and installed; which I was looking to do. :)

    Thanks, again, and sorry.
