    I think I found the answer :) ....

Task Manager > Processes tab (screenshot) ....

I am running 32 bit IE 11 - iexplore.exe*32, I imagine if you are running 64 bit you would see iexplore.exe*64
Very little in practice - some common add-ons may not work with 64 bit- some discussion here ....

Windows 7: What is the purpose of 64-bit IE?

Did anyone read my old thread? Unless I'm missing something, Evan gave the answer in that one.

MrBill I have Win7 64bit Pro and when going to the link on your reply it gives the message that I have the latest browser ??

When I open the process viewer in task manager nothing is shown as running as 64bit this applies to both of the IE11 run from each location

You can see it in the TaskManager. In post #22 Pete attached a screenshot and you can see several processes with the note "*32 ". That indicates a 32-bit process. All the others are 64-bit processes. There is a single "iexplore.exe" and 3 "iexplore.exe *32" in view. That indicates that Internet Explorer was running with 3 tabs open, at least.

Did you read the quote above?

On a system running the 64-bit version of Windows, the 64-bit version is always used.

Even if you click on the 32-bit version, it simply loads the 64-bit version of IE and then exits.
