I have just installed a new MS wireless keyboard 3000 v 2.0 and am unsuccessful in setting up Favorite keys. I want to have quick access to 4 or 5 desktop folders and the instructions are a little confusing: It says open the folder, press and hold down the key in question. Information about the folder should appear, then click OK. But when I press the key to set it nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

BTW - in connection with this new keyboard, the keys seem closer together than I am used to. Is this just me?

Did it come with a setup CD? You might have missed part of the setup. The keyboard will probably work without any special installation, but to make non-standard keys work you need to use their software/drivers. Do any other special keys work, like the Internet or e-Mail key?

What version of Windows do you have? You should put details in your WindowsBBS user profile, you only have the computer model.

Sorry. HP Pavilion a1550y, Windows XP Home.

Something has gone wrong with my Windows BBS; that info should have been in my profile, also I had trouble accessing the Reply window.

The first thing I did was insert batteries in the keyboard and mouse, next I followed the instructions on the CD, entering the specific model of the new keyboard as required. Typing the name of the desktop file in question in various places produced no result.

The special keys such as email and Home work, but the Favorites 1-5 do not.

I assume there is some instruction that I don't understand, and that's why I'm asking for help.
