I have Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit, and when I try to launch media player, I get a server execution failed error.

    Thanks in advance.

    Try this:

    • Type services.msc in your Start menu search box & press ENTER
    • Scroll down to Windows Media Player Network Sharing and click the Restart the service link

OK, lets try something else. Instead of restarting, stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service.

In the Start search box, enter %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\ and press ENTER.

    Move all files/folders you'll see under /Media Player/ to a backup folder.

Restart the Windows Media Player Network Sharing service.

No idea if it would work, but it wouldn't hurt, since all what you're doing is registering the two DLL's

    Try this:

    • In your Start Menu search box type Turn Windows features On or Off and press [Enter]
    • Browse to the Media Features and uncheck the mark in front of Windows Media Player
    • Restart the computer
    • Now go back, and place a check mark in front of Windows Media Player

Only other option I can think of is doing a Windows 7 Repair. You do this by booting off the Win7 DVD and choosing the option to "upgrade" your current OS.

This will only work if you have a Windows 7 DVD, a 'Restore' DVD from an OEM (DELL, HP or others) won't work.
