i have done what that post asked...and turned off my antivirus first...but the logs never seem to pop up...i dont know what i'm doing wrong. some more info...

so I have an anti virus called "webroot ". it found these:

virus - "Mal/ObfJS-X "

hack tool - "App/ForceLib-A "

That "Mal/ObfJS-X" thing has been found and deleted by the program twice before this. it seems to reappear.

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
2. Close any open browsers.
3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
• Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results ".
• Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
NOTE. If Combofix asks you to install Recovery Console, please allow it.
• Close any open browsers.
• WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
• Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
• If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.
4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Make sure, you re-enable your security programs, when you're done with Combofix.

DO NOT make any other changes to your computer (like installing programs, using other cleaning tools, etc.), until it's officially declared clean!!!

Download HijackThis:
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/tools/security_tools/hijackthis/download
by clicking on Download HijackThis Installer
Install, and run it.
Post HijackTHis log.
Do NOT attempt to fix anything!

NOTE. If you're using Vista, right click on HijackThis, and click Run as Administrator

okay this is wierd. so i install combofix and hijackthis on my desktop. i turn off webroot. i run combofix...it like stalls at about 3 min in. i shut it down, run again. this time it wants to install some backup thing for windows(?). uh...okay i do it. it freezes. run it again...this time it says i have AVG running<?> i supposedly uninstalled that like a million years ago...i go searching...find parts of it running i never knew of. i try to uninstall again...it says the shortcuts to uninstall go nowhere. i search for anything avg...find lots of stuff. no way to uninstall. add/remove progs doesnt even see it. i delete as much avg stuff as will let me (still sitting in recycle bin). some will not let me delete. no delete/uninstall? so i'm stuck with pieces of an old prog no matter what? anyways i try again after looking in my task manager processes and ending anything with an avg in it. it (combofix) runs. it starts deleting things(?). then it reboots my system on it's own. at relaunch it says it's gonna give me the log, but at start up...webroot wants to run...they freeze each other. i end both. my desktop reverts to some different pic i have in my pics folder. and there is some other indications that somehow it resetted my system to some random point months ago(?). never even got to running hijackthis yet. so i try to run combofix again to get you a log right? well it says avg is still running! what do i do? oh...and i checked my search engine problem...it's gone...this is wierd. i think i got what i wanted but now i'm left with more questions than answers. what do i do?

Delete your Combofix file.

Download fresh one from HERE and try again.
I renamed the file for a reason.

Did you delete your Combofix file before downloading mine?
