    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

You post is a little light on detail - when does the screen black out? Laptop/desktop??

HI, desktop and it has been happening in the last couple of days.
it seems to happen like a screensaver, except that the screen is grey and it does not
respond to movement of the mouse to bring back the screen i was working on.

When the screen blacks out does the light on the monitor show it to be powered on or on standby? - typically orange on standby.
