ScanDisk detected an invalid long filename

    Hi,

    Thank you one and all for your help. All of you were very helpful in resolving this problem.

    I did as John B. suggested, leaving TaskMonitor unchecked in the startup list and deleted all the files in Applog.

    The computer is running great so hope it stays that way.

    P.S. My friend is happy and is planning on picking up his computer tomorrow. I also printed out the posting notes so he knows what great help I received.
