This error message appears when opening up PowerPoint XP. The full error message is as follows -

    CLSCentralAddlnn
    Run-time error '5':
    Invalid procedure call or argument.

We have Office 2000, Office XP, and Visual Basic 6 sp5 loaded on these machines. Besides uninstalling and reinstalling office xp, does anyone have any suggestions on why this may be happening? We have had this problem before and uninstalling and re-installing did help, however, that is very time consuming and I would like a better fix. I have searched support at MS and on the web, but I have not found any help so far. Thank you.

Just a WAG. But if you are running Norton AV, try disabling it. Or any other AV for that matter.

I found a couple of posts searching groups.google.com on CLSCentralAddInn and another searching on CLSCentralAddIn (note spelling)

When you get PowerPoint open, go to "Tools ", "Add-In's" and click on
Add-in's and see if that file is listed there. If so highlight it and click
"Remove ", close PowerPoint and reopen it. That should take care of that
    problem.

Someone's already answered this, Hugo. The suggestion was to go to Tools,
Add-ins and unload the CLSCentralAddInn that's causing the error.

Or contact its developer to see if they have a solution.

Nice work Alice! Apparently the spelling correction was the key. That make a good case for always copying/pasting error messages if at all possible.

    :D thanks :D

I don't usually second-guess the spelling on error messages people post unless it is obvious but that Inn struck me as odd.
