Resolved [Restore default 'Open with' settings]

    it saves it but wont open

    When you click on the zip file, do you not have the option to Save it to disk?
    If not, you have previously selected to Always use the action to Open
    Thus, you will have to change that action in FILE TYPES, to "Confirm open after download "

    because is saved and named it intrnet explorer my internet explorer button highlights

    Let's recap ....

    Save the file to your hard drive - NOT the Desktop

    Right click on the file > Extract All

    Does that work for you?

    sorry for so many messages this happened ithink by thinking i hit open but was open with and didnt know what to do next

    my computer than c drive found file extacted and got a second file i think its a zip file i dont want to open untill i talk to you.

    What do you use for Extracting (Unzipping) that zio file?
    Do you have a program such as 7zip or Winzip installed?

    OK - I have never used Windows 2000 and after some research find that it does not have a built in unzipping facility - you will need third party software to unzip it .....

    It's fairly obvious you have a 32bit system, try one of the downloads here (not the x64 versions at the bottom)

    This still doesn't answer your original query, can you provide us with another example or was it only zip files causing the problem?
