I was late up around 3AM a few days ago watching my anime shows then mega-upload told me I watched 72 minutes. The problem of restarting happened a few hours after installing a program called hide-my-ip. afterwards during one of the episodes I was watching my computer suddenly crashes then reboots. It looked like a typical crash at first but whenever it hits the windows xp loading screen it flashes the BSoD then restarts again in an infinite cycle. I also tried booting in safe mode but to no avail.

Any Ideas of what could be causing this issue? My guess is probably bad data since my GPU and CPU are both fairly new.

If you have the install CD for Windows XP - try to repair the installation.
After the installation is repaired then scan for virus and malware.

Hi Robert, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

    Follow these instructions below:

    1. When you boot up the computer press F8 on startup and select Last Known Good Configuration.
    2. If that doesn't work then press F8 on startup and select the option to disable reboot after system failure. This will stop the computer from rebooting after you recieve the BSOD which will allow you to make note of it and write down the error message.
    3. If you still can't get the computer up and running then boot from a Windows XP CD.
    4. When you boot from the CD do you see an option that says Press R to boot into the recovery console? If you see that option press R.
    5. Once you boot into the recovery console it will ask you which Windows installation you wish to log into.
    6. Press 1 and hit enter.
    7. Next type the administrator password. If you don't have a password then leave it blank otherwise type it in and hit enter.
    8. Next type the following commands and hit enter after each one.

    fixboot
    fixmbr
    chkdsk /r

You may be asked to confirm an action after typing in the commands. Type Y to confirm the action if you are asked. After check disk has finished checking your harddrive type exit to quit setup. Hopefully the computer will now boot.
    9. If the system still doesn't boot then power off the machine, open the case up and take out the harddrive. If you have another computer hook up the harddrive as a slave drive where you can copy all the important data off the slave drive onto another harddrive.
    10. If you would rather not hook up the harddrive as a slave drive then try Performing a Repair Installation of Windows XP.

Let me know if you can get the computer to boot after performing the above steps.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Well my computer back up and running and I'll have to write down some things cause sadly I'll have to run a complete memory wipe unless of course there's a way to restore some functions. The only problems I'm noticing which only one is major is the fact that I can't launch i-explorer and thankfully my friend that I still feel as a bother installed mozilla firefox (without my permission but that's besides the point) it comes up with this error
[The Ordinal 410 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dll.] I'll wait for a few hours if you choose to respond to this problem but if not the problem of the restarting was resolved after a fixed installation (some problems occured during that too but it was something to do with the start menu)
    Thanks for the assistance
    -Robert
