    I am running Vista.
I would like to remove the Linksys program access from my kids' limited/restricted user (start) menu, but can not figure out where to go. I have already removed icon from desktop by going to c:\users\public\desktop.

    Thanks

You could remove the items from the start menu on you kid's accounts: see here

Or, you could restrict access to the Linksys folder; right click on folder, select properties, select security tab, click on the user and click edit. Set the access level you want them to have.

Permissions is the way to go for sure. Deny access to either the folder or the file required to access the router.

OK. Technically, it's not in the START menu, but you can launch it from the start menu when you click on START and then All Programs. I've gone under the linksys program itself (properties and then Security) and gave Admin all access, but it will not allow me - an Administrator account to Deny All on Users or Everyone. I just want to remove the icon from the "all Programs" screen so they can not easily access it. They can probably still launch it from doing 'explore'.

Mainly, I don't want them to know what the password is when I change it. So I don't want them to launch it but I want them to still be able to surf the web. If I restrict the linksys folder, will that prevent them from surfing the web, since I'm using the router for direct connect on the desktop?

Start, all programs, right click on llinksys folder, click open all users; this should open it so you can modify what is seen in the folder on all programs list. You should be able to do this for each user. You can delete the shourcuts to the linksys.exe file so the kids can't see it.

Since it is just a shortcut it won't affect the actual file at all.

It seems to me that the easiest thing to do is to uninstall the Linksys program and them simply access the router admin via your browser. That way, the only people that'll be able to access the router will be those that know the router password.
