Exicuting a Backup on my HP Presario CQ5115uk computer, a caption
displays that "backup unable to complete, owing to a file not present
or able to be traced ".
The file is listed in Notepad as Shanghai.2010.
I am unable to locate or trace the named file on my computer.
Is there a way to trace and delete this file? and able me to backup
    computer as normal.
    Help will be most appreciated.

I use Windows 7 backup software to save contents of computer in case of corruption to files saved.

As suggested, if indeed Malware, can this be checked and corrected?

    Thank you for replies.

It can be investigated in the Malware & Virus Removal forum where you should .....

Please read this as indicated at the head of the forum and post the logs requested in a new thread.

I followed your instructions, Downloaded and ran TFC. I made a further backup of computer.
Caption now states that a file was skipped [Shanghai.2010] as not found.
I would like for peace of mind, to erase file in question or is backup ok?

    You stopped at Step #3.

If the file was skipped and the backup completed successfully I think you can safely assume that the backup is sound.
That will be difficult given that the file does not exist apart, maybe, from a reference to it somewhere.

Googling for Shanghai.2010 brings up pages of hits relating to a film and the ripping thereof and your thread here, of course - does this ring a bell?

Yes, on thinking back, a file was downloaded but failed to open
    erased and was forgotten.
My software Revo pro, is supposed to erase completely all traces
of files, erased via the Rubbish bin.
Certainly it appears that file name in question is hidden deeply
    in my computer.

I don't think you have any cause for concern, but it may be interesting to search the Registry for Shanghai if you feel comfortable in doing that. May turn something up.

Before making contact with BBS, I tried a Find with Windows regedit
and this showed no result than amd-Microsoft Shanghai box game.
I presume this comes under the Windows Games download, other
    shown were Cell and Solitaire.
Certainly the computer appears to be functioning properly, though
a Restore has not been carried out for sometime.
    Thank you PeteC, appreciated.

I searched my Registry for Shanghai and came up with 2 keys .....

They are Windows entries - no idea why Backup jibbed at it - doesn't on my box

Anyway I think that clears things up.
