Version 4.0.2 is good for us oldies. The Metro look and Apps is suitable for the younger generation.
I use the Classic Shell v 4.0.2 and find it's quite easy to get around in W8.1 with the W7 Start setup.
You'll have to make the jump sooner or later and choose between Touch screen or Mouse. Neil.

 

Navigating is not much of an issue with Classic Shell installed, but I'm not a big fan of Windows 8 explorer ribbon. I wonder how many novice 8 / 8.1 users are unhappy with their new operating system(s)? According to an article I read back in the summer, laptop sales had plummeted so much (due to the public's dislike of Windows 8) that retailers were offering computers at black Friday prices.

I hope the next version of Windows gets it right for a change.
