Yeah, thanks again. SpywareBlaster is updating with more frequency these days, which is a good thing, but it doesn't seem to have a set pattern though. I am not sure if it updates weekly, fortnightly or otherwise.

    I ditto this, Dave.

Most important to get is, Spywareblaster is a DIVA cause it updates when it is right for it to do it AND YOU GOTTA RESPECT THAT. But even more important, it is a TRUE DIVA cause it is also LOW MAINTENANCE.:D

Should be a new thread. Having said that, Spywareblaster runs invisibly and precludes intrusions. Unlike most such apps and has no sccan, quarantine-remove options.

So you are talking about apples & oranges, if in the same orchard.

You should get it and THEN do your research and chose at least two other antispywares which do afford the above options. there are many good free ones, and most alos have paid for versions.

Right now, i use Superantispy and Malwarebytes. Both have active real tie protection if you get the paid versions.

i believe there are stickythreads on this site.....addressing Antispywares.

Spybot S&D has a scanner as well as real time protection. It isn't a particularly good scanner however & SUPERAntiSpyware found a trojan on my computer that both Norton & Spybot missed. Needless to say, I don't use either of the latter now. In fact SUPERAntiSpyware is the only freeware anti-malware application that I recommend to anyone these days (well, apart from SpywareBlaster). Spybot S&D went all 'HAL 9000' on me when I tried to remove it & I had a devil of a time before finally exorcising it from my laptop.

I used Malwarebytes MBAM for nearly 13 months & the only thing it ever found were my own perfectly bona fide drivers. If I had taken notice of it I probably wouldn't have any drivers at all, or indeed a workable computer now. I eventually got a bit bored with its false positives & its downloading mirror problems, which for some reason particularly affect people such as myself who live outside of the continental United States.

I have a hardware firewall, an AV suite provided by my ISP (BT Yahoo!), SpywareBlaster, SUPERAntiSpyware (both free editions) & Windows Defender. I use Opera 10.10 & K-Meleon as my main browsers with SRWare Iron as a back-up. Opera & Iron are probably among the safest browsers available & SpywareBlaster protects K-Meleon. I can also easily toggle JavaScript on/off with the F7 button in K-Meleon for extra safety.

I think the security dangers are a bit overplayed these days, not that there aren't any dangers, but I think as long as you surf safely & use your Brain.exe a bit you should be OK. ;)

A safe browser, good firewall, decent AV, Windows Defender & SpywareBlaster as realtime protection with SUPERAntiSpyware as a good on-demand scanner are all you should really need.

    Check out SpywareBlaster here.

Yes, it's definitely the best in my opinion. MBAM may be nearly as good as SAS as a scanner, but I eventually stopped trusting it. At least MBAM uninstalls easily enough anyway.
