    In response to
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/internet-explorer/61424-visited-links-not-changing-color.html

A customers computer has the same problems.
He's running Windows XP with IE7.

The strange thing is that Firefox does the same thing. Does not mark url's as visited.

I've deleted the history in both browsers and still it only works for one url on for example Google.

    Then it never works again.
I'm going gray, this irks me.

    Any ideas?

Yeah, I did. Which is why I'm even more lost atm.
It's the first time I've come across til specific problem and to behonest I'm not sure I'll ever come across it again.

Still, customer happy = me happy.

    Thanks btw. :)

Link colors on Web pages are determined first by the html & css code used on the page, next by the browser settings and next by 3rd party applications.

For example, one may use css code in a page for links to set the colors for Link, Visited, Hover & Active and browser settings won't override the css styles. You can change browser setting till your blue in the face and the link colors don't change for the specific page.

If the html has no styles or code set for links then the browser settings go into effect.

Browser settings can override css & html code for links in IE via the Accessability/Formatting settings for colors, fonts & font sizes; or by using one's own style sheet.

In FF > Options > Content > Fonts & Colors buttons one can uncheck "allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my own ", but that's not a good idea as you won't ever see the pages as the authors intended.

This issue of link colors can also be affected by "days to keep history" setting in the browser and also by settings for "clear temp files on exiting the browser ", which can include cookies, history, cache, forms, passwords, etc.
