First time I've experienced this and sat boggle-eyed for a moment. Everything then went black and in a few seconds it started up again with an 'Error' message...was something like: "Major problem detected and windows had to shut down to protect your computer. Before it reboots you need to... ... ..." Then it was gone. Too late, it started again and then seemed ok.

I've been getting so many 'Windows had to shut down and is searching for the problem' messages lately; or else: 'Windows has detected another User... ... ...' and have had to shut down and start up again.

I'm not in the habit of adding programmes and am at a bit of a loss as to why this should keep occurring so regularly.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.
    Thankyou.

Hi Sarah001. It sounds like your computer is giving you a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) but then is rebooting too quickly for you to read the entire message. You need to disable the reboot on system failure setting so that when your computer does give you a BSOD you will be able to read it and write down the error message. Take a look here, How To Disable the Automatic Restart on System Failure in Windows 7.

Knowing what the error message is in full detail can tell us a lot about what type of problem your computer is having and whether it is a hardware or a software problem.

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

Note: A common error is to forget to show your System Details in your profile:

Make sure to do the above when entering your System Details, thanks.

Cool. When your computer blue screens again or pops up an error message, go ahead and take note of it and post the full error message here in your next reply so we can figure out what the cause of the error message might be.

Thanks again. Will be taking your advice. (Oh...BTW, still haven't heard of anyone getting a 'Red Screen').
