When did you get that error? During a reinstall of Windows or some other installation?

Also, give us an idea of where you are on the solutions we have suggested. What hardware do you have running now? Are you testing the drives?

So you did, sorry... skim fail on my part.

I just have the drivers from my MoBo disk installed and updated ( like Realtek audio...ATI ), My Bigfoot Network driver updated along with the others, but I do not have my network plugged into that card right now.
That last error I posted was showing up before AND after windows re install.
Is there anyway of uploading a driver list?I did un-check IPv6.How do I turn off the Sata controllers?I do have a liquid CPU cooler installed .

I'll shut down soon and remove the Bigfoot network card and the extra power supply. I overlooked your post earlier ( sorry )..

Edit: rebooted..removed the 2 items mentioned above

Looking at your motherboard manual, your three SATA controllers are:

    1) "South Bridge ": The three internal double-SATA ports furthest from the DRAM (SATA3_0 - SATA3_5)
    2) "Gigabyte SATA2 Chip ": the internal double-SATA port closest to the DRAM (GSATA2_6/GSATA2_7)
    3) "JMicron JMB362 chip ": the two external eSATA/USB ports on the back

Page 51 of the manual shows where to turn each SATA interface on or off, and covers which is which by port. Just turn off what you are not using and do a clean install.

Let us know how it goes!

Justcallmefred, did you follow any of the set up instructions in the manual? I assumed you had.

A big thank you to Win32ce for raising the question. I think you need to get right back to square one and just start with the bare essentials and a clean hard drive. Follow the manual's set up guide word for word, be patient and you may just find that everything comes together. This is a fairly high end system, you can't just plug it all in and expect it to work, there is a procedure to follow:)

If you get stuck on any instruction, don't skip it, ask:)

Will turn off SATA Controllers later today. Should I install all the microsoft updates yet?

The 2 1TB were new with the system, bought all at the same time. Maybe I should have just gotten a hammock for my 40'th birthday present :) ...little less stressfull...lol

As suggested, lets start with the basics and get the OS up and running before you install anything else, updates included. Do not even start any internet connection or anti virus software. It will be easier to see what is happening if you have the minimum software and hardware installed or connected. Only after you have the OS running smoothly will it be time to start adding all the hardware and additional software.

Glad to hear the hard drives are new, that's one less thing to worry about. Love the idea of the hammock, far easier to troubleshoot:D

In addition to what markmadras recommends:

When installing the drivers, if you do it from the CD/DVD, do not choose the easy way and tell it to "install everything ". Identify the drivers that are needed. Install them separately, one by one, with a reboot in between. Stay away from all "additional" drivers and software until you know that you need it.

Also, check and download the most recent version of the drivers that you need. They are available from the manufacturers (Gigabyte or AMD/ATI) homepage.

And in addition to what Christer recommends, make absolutley certain that all the drivers are compatible with Windows 7 64bit, anything else will not do.

I remember I could not get the vid card drivers to update from the Sapphire site, even from Ati site ( both were 64 bit)...they just would not work...had to use Driver Genius Pro and then they updated fine.

That's fine if it works and you are sure it is finding the correct driver. I have used similar software and it ******* my system by downloading the wrong driver.

I think I would play safe and download the driver manually from the manufacturers site onto your desktop and then update from there.

Two weeks ago, I assembled a computer based on the GA-870A-UD3 and the GV-R545SC-1GI (which require the same drivers as your hardware) and installed Windows 7-64 Professional.

Downloaded from Gigabyte I installed for the motherboard:

    Chipset Driver 8.71
    Audio Driver R2.51
LAN Driver 7.018 (skipped the diagnostic utility until needed)
    (skipped the preinstall SATA/RAID drivers)
    USB 3.0 Driver 2.0.4.0

Downloaded from AMD/ATI I installed for the graphics card:

    Display Driver
Catalyst Control Center (in my language version)

I installed in that order with a reboot inbetween. If that works fine and you need additional drivers for the graphics card, download and install them one by one. (I also installed the Optional Hydravision Package which gives you "multiscreen" function but it's not necessary.)

Reloaded again , something was wrong. I put in the MoBo disk and it would BSOD. So, reinstalled after a full format. I just downloaded the drivers for MoBo ( Thank you Christer!) . On the ATI drivers, I noticed before, there are like 3 different ones all labeled the same for the CCC ( 54.8 mb , 58.2mb and 58.2 mb...all same relaese dates) I'm guessing to say that it would be best to load JUST a driver first....then later the CCC for more options. What is the difference between Display driver v. OpenCL Driver?

markmadras, same reason why I stayed away from them before....but was annoyed when everything else seemed to fail. I'm hoping, with fingers crossed, with the excellant advice here I will not need it ( you have no idea how much I appreciate the advice....wifey does too!)

Christer- what's your opinion of the BIOS updater from Gigabyte?Have you used the On/Off Charge ?

That BSOD when loading the mobo drivers is a worry. Follow this and you will be able to read the error message by stopping the auto reboot. Seeing what the error says may help to isolate the problem.

So no BSOD on your last install using your downloaded drivers?

Just rebooted after installing first driver. Windows updated on reboot...I DID NOT want it to do that! But, I'll continue with one driver at a time.I did write down the error....it's long.I hope I copied it correctly. This error was from the last install...NOT from this install.

This error does appear to be driver related, lets hope the downloaded drivers all go in smoothly. Fingers crossed we might be getting somewhere now

I think gdrv.sys is the Gigabyte's Dynamic Energy Saver Advanced program.

Is their energy saver driver an option you can disable when you install your motherboard drivers? I wouldn't think you really need it.

This time, I didn't install ANYTHING from the MOBo disk,I went right to the link and d/l the drivers that were mentioned in the post. I installed the ATI driver, not the CCC.

I have a few things listed in the Event Viewer...mostly from the Windows Update. Can I post that log? I saved it to desktop..

On my original install there was an update for my Bios, and I did install it with the Gigabyte updater...I have not done that yet...should I yet...or wait?
