Hi All, I have just recently started getting a read error message coming up when trying to open an attachment via an email.I have version 4.0.0 of Open Office and the message reads "Open Office doc Version 4.0.0. Read error. Error reading file" I have not had problems before when opening attachments sent in this way and would very much appreciate some help in solving the problem.

    There's all sorts of possibilities..

If you create a file and email it to yourself - can you read it?

On the bad files - are you saving them to your desktop or trying to open the file within the email?

    Hi Steve,

I am trying to open the file within the email, I do not save them to my desktop and despite creating a file and emailing to myself I still cannot read it.

Then try saving to the desktop and see if that works.

What type of files are these?
