rca to usb adaptor for vhs

    I was in a discussion with some co-workers about getting vhs tapes to dvd. One person said he saw an adaptor with rca on one end and usb on the other and he was going to get that to put his tapes on his pc.

    I told him he needed more than that. There has to be a special piece of hardware and some software to convert the signal to something the PC can recognize.

    Does anyone know what else would be needed?

    You either need one of those usb devices or an internal video capture card.

    Used to do that on my Sony RDR-VX515, but, that was quite a long time ago.

    Hey, thanks for all the great replies. I think I'll look into one of the adaptors Pete mentioned. I looked at the machine at WM and just too much money just to convert the several VHS tapes I have.

    It arrived today. Monday is my day off so will be testing it out Monday night.
