Programs refuse to load on bootup

Elsie, I do not think you are going to get any further solving your
problems unless you get a PC savvy friend or a local tech guy
to look at the PC.

I could always use a slave, so you're right. Time to bite the bullet, throw up the white flag, and browse Dell.com.

I can get this one fixed properly by someone who knows what they're doing and get a new computer at the same time. I sure hope XP isn't the nightmare I'm anticipating. That's your only choice these days, right ?

It doesn't say "Did Not Start" - it says "Not Started ".

This means that the backup was made at a point other than via an entry in the Local Machine Run key; processed during boot up.

I agree with merlin. We could be here 'till next Christmas with exchanges here.

I will however, post back with an update if there IS a resolution. Thanks for your patience and attempts to rescue me.
