It seemed fine for about an hour but now I just had the blue screen of death (after being on Steam for maybe about an hour) ... do you think that's related to the process being disabled?

I just re-read your last replies and I believe, you did something wrong.
You shouldn't be touching MS entries at all.
You're supposed to disable all non-MS entries.
When you did, your CPU usage looked perfectly fine.
Then, you're supposed to start re-enabling all previously disabled non-MS entries, one-by-one, restarting computer after each action and checking PE log.

I thought, I was pretty clear in my reply #32.

I did the whole list of non-MS entries and everything was normal in my PE logs. It was only when I started re-enabling the MS entries that started to give me a problem.

You're not suppose to touch MS entries at all.
    Right now, I'm totally confused.
I assumed, that your log in reply #30 was after performing steps from my reply #29 - disabling all non-MS entries. Wasn't it?
At what point, did you start disabling MS entries?

Normally, in this forum, I simply clean computers up from malwares and we're done with that around my reply #19.
I went an extra mile only because I thought you're following my instructions, but it looks like at some point, things got mixed up.

Oh, okay. I guess I was confused. I've set everything back to the way it was so things are fine now and malware-free. Thanks for all your help.

    You're welcome :)
