    I tried your suggestion, unsuccessful.
    Error Apply Security.
An error occurred while applying security information to C:\Users\Robert\Desktop\Mail en-US
    Access denied.
    Repeats Access denied.
Mail en-US relates to 2009 Vista installation. Can Vista still be installed after current install of Windows 7?

Did you perform a Custom Install? If you performed a clean install you should not have a windows.old folder or any other residual references to Vista's files nor folders.

I asked in a previous thread whether to keep window.old. Answer your question I have Windows.old on my "C" HD.

Windows.old made a another search, no reference can now be found. It was present after the Window 7 was installed at the weekend.

You can delete that folder if you choose to.

I forgot that I had a Disk Clean-up. This states that files will be deleted permanently if selected. Still unable to remove icon Mail en-US permission denied.

I tried out the detailed list, no change could be found to rectify error. What puzzles me, installing Windows 7 supposed to clean out completely reference to Vista. The error relates to Vista installation that is supposed to be removed.

Did you try the fix it tool located near the bottom of the page. When you were installing win 7 did you get an option to save files, folders and settings.

To be honest, just can not remember. I note one suggestion refers to Windows.old that was removed when I did a Disk Clean. It certainly does not look too promising now in correcting error.

You could try this: Unlocker First read the Editors Note.

Icon was successfully removed by my son in-law, unfortunately how this was achieved is not made known to me. Other annoying errors are that open files in some cases require to refresh screen to remove. Previously opening another file opened on top as now opens beneath the current file.

Glad you resolved it. Is there a way you could ask your son-in-law how he fixed it. It might help another member with same problem.

Sorry, yes used "Uninstall with Revo ", hope it helps a member who may require this fix. A fix for the various items accumulating on screen, requiring the "Refresh" to clear, would be most appreciated. Thanks Bobby.

Refreshing screen required to clear open folder. A search has suggested there is no solution. Thanks.

Bobby, are you satisfied with this thread? Is Windows 7 working properly now? I think if you are having any other issues with your clean install that you should create a new thread for that as many members, me included have answered your original question.

Yes - no, last hiccup is the need to click "refresh" to clear left overs and the current software opened. Thsnks to all who helped.
