When I click on "Event Viewer" I get the following error message:
"Event Viewer cannot open the event log or custom view. Verify that Event Log service is running. "
I have no idea why or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Hi VaCcAr0. It looks like the Event Viewer service is not running.

Click Start< in the Start Search box type services.msc and hit enter. When the Services window opens scroll down to the Windows Event Log service and make sure the Startup Type is set to Automatic and that it is Started.

The service is on automatic but when I tried to start it, I got the following error message:

"Windows could not start the Windows Event Log Service on Local Computer.
Error 4201: The instance name passed was not recognized as valid by a WMI data provider "

Delete (or rename) the folder \Windows\System32\LogFiles\WMI\RtBackup

    • Use msconfig to boot into safe mode
    • Start cmd.exe as admin
    • type cd %windir%\System32\LogFiles\WMI (press [Enter])
    • type ren RtBackup RtBackup2 (press [Enter])
    • Use msconfig to change boot to 'normal' mode
    • Reboot

So I tried doing that but it wouldn't let me delete or rename the folder.

So I did something else instead:
I went into safe mode, right clicked on that folder and went to properties then security then I added new group called "SYSTEM" and allowed it full control. Then I restarted in normal mode and that did the trick.
