this problem is linked with gainward graphics cards, I don't know how it cropped up on my system as it was working fine before, the BIOSCTL.EXE is located in the User interface or UI folder for gainwards EXPERTTool

I tried to update EXPERTTool from 3.10 to 3.18, I also updated the graphics card BIOS yet the problem with BIOSCTL.EXE persisted, eventually I uninstalled EXPERTTool, the problem is now gone.

It isn't a virus it must just be a glitch in gainwards program, the program isnt really needed and is just a flashy way of displaying the screen resolution and clock speed of the gfx card etc.

If you were to uninstall EXPERT tool the problem would be fixed

I am assuming you are using a gainward NVIDIA graphics card?

I have just had the same problem after doing a full system install of XP from the XP disk, it worked fine before but due to unforseen problems with windows i had to format

I would contact gainward for some tech advice but to be honest EXPERTOOL isnt really needed

    hope this helps
