Newt i have done all the steps and it works :D but another problem

i get the username and password box to authenticate on the the domain which i type the username and password for the administrator, however it says "The Following error occured attempting to join the domain "CONTOSO" The specified server cannot perform the requested operation.

I have no firewall enabled at all so wouldn't let me join the domain now

You guys have been really helpfull.
what step should i take please?

    Many Thanks

I have same problem - fixed it.

Hello there. I have the exact same problem as you, and I do mean exactly - same errors word-for-word and I took the same steps as you with the exact same results. The problem on my setup was indeed a firewall. I was trying to connect a Windows 2003 Enterprise Server with ISA 2004 Standard Edition to a Windows 2003 domain. As long as I had the ISA services running, these problems persisted. Upon stopping all ISA services I had 100% communication into the target domain with TCP/IP. Hope this helps you...
