Hello everyone. I've got one type of BSOD which is annoying me all the time. I will try to explain my problem... I've FireWire sound card. It works almost fine, but if I'm opening any of the game I got BSOD instantly. But if I turn off sound card - game works fine, but without sound of course. So I will be really happy if you guys will help me to find out what causing this blue screen. I have minidump file. (Download please). My drivers are fine. I mean please don't ask me to downgrade my drivers or reinstall them - doesn't help. Clean installation either. The problem in something other...

I appreciate any help. Sorry for bad English. And Thanks!

P.S. Sorry for sharing file on rapidshare, I don't know how to attach file directly. If u will let me know how - I will edit this thing.

Follow these instructions to post a Dump Data Log.

If you do not have a dump, ensure that your machine is configured to write out a dump by following the directions from microsoft

Thank you for your reply. My minidump file is attached by external link. Unfortunately I don't know how to attach it directly. And yes I understand that analyze of it request much time and experience but I hope that even on a first look somebody can see anything wrong with that... So I'm asking to take a look and post any thoughts. :D...

Please use the links in Arie's post to debug the .dmp file/s. You should open several dump files, one might not be accurate, you need to open several and compare them for consistent information. These are the links
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?t=33471
    or the Microsoft debugger
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;314103

Anyway, I have debugged your minidump file:
You should make full memory dumps, not minidumps.

ohci1394.sys is a Windows driver, apparently related to Firewire.

You should check at your computer or motherboard manufacturer's website for an update for the Firewire (IEEE 1394) controller. Note that I am not talking about the sound/audio controller, I am talking about the Firewire controller.

From that minidump (and it is only a minidump), it appears to be a driver problem related to Firewire, not a an audio controller.

Have you checked on the sound card's website for troubleshooting information? Is it still under warranty? They should have a "contact us" webpage. Ask them, they should answer promptly if is under warranty, if it not still under warranty they might dismiss you, give you the "run around ", ask for money to fix it or they might just give you an actual fix for it...for goodwill for their business even though it out of warranty (so that you might buy their products again in the future, tell your friends how helpful they were or you might give them a good mention on the internet).

Note that I am not any sort of expert on blue screens, we make comments if we feel we can possibly help.

    Matt

While others may want to download unknown files from unknown sources I won't.

And the instructions clearly state how to run the debugger. You don't want to take the time to properly post your problem? And then expect others to jump through hoops to help you? Good luck.

OMG... I've spent for a couple of week trying contact different supports. I also did analyze by myself (same way as microsoft says), but as I said I'm not an expert in mini dump files. I've tried so much steps tryin to catch up the problem. And this forum is my last step. I'm so displeased to hear this from u. And to my great surprise I read it from Admin... Well maybe my post looks like this and I deserve it.

I've attached external link because there is no possibility to attach it directly. But on ur forum I've seen note that I should attach mini dump file for people can help me. That's what I did.

Matt, thank you so much for ur help, time and advices! I will try to make full dump too. And I will pay much attention to a FirmWare driver. I hope this will help. Sound card's manufacturer can't help me, I've spent a lot of time texting with them, their advices doesn't work at all. Yesterday I've also posted a request in microsoft support. Maybe I have to try other FireWire card controller... Ok.. Thank you!

    If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
    use .trap on that value
    Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken

Do you use FireWire at all?

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

Have you made any recent hardware/software changes?

My first suggestion - IF NO CHANGES have recently be made - would be to be check for a hardware fault - RAM or processor/motherboard overheating being the most likely culprits.

Start by testing your memory. Run Memtest86 or Windows Memory Diagnostic.

    Please note:

To work around the above, test the installed RAM in various configurations. If you have a single module, swap it around the slots. If you have a pair of modules, run each one singly, swapping between slots; and then run them in pairs swapping between pairs of slots. If you have 2 sets of matched modules do not get them mixed up.

Thank you everybody for your help! It seems problem resolved. I've bought new FireWire controller card from Pinnacle and now it's ok... Yahoo! :)...
