In the device manager there is an IDT High Definition Audio CODEC that cannot start. I have uninstalled the device reinstalled the device, unistalled the drivers, reinstalled the drivers, updated the drivers to no avail. After reinstalling the device, the windows black box pops up that says audio service installed, starting up audio service, and then it says that there was a problem installing your hardware, device cannot start code 10. Here is the really strange thing, when I run the system diagnostics for the audio, all of the tests pass. I hear music from every audio outlet in the back that I plug speakers into during the test. So what can I do To fix this.
    Thanks

P.S. In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties there are not any devices installed in any catergory.

    Perplexing Audio Ploblem

:eek:In my previous thread I failed to mention that even though in the sounds and audio properties it says that there are no devices installed, (in any catergory) there are devices installed. This makes no sense. What can I do To fix this?

I would reload all your chipset drivers from here .....

    http://support.dell.com/support/dow...temID=DIM_P4_C521&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

    and read this .....

No sound. IDT high definition audio codec problem.

I know it says No Sound, but other parts may be relevant.

You should check using SIW what sound devices are detected (Hardware > Sound Device) and use the appropriate sound driver Creative or Sigmatel.

    For background reading ....
