    Hi cecoleman,

We encourage all members to enter their system details, it could help resolving this and any future issues you may have.

What happens if you remove power completely from the mains, or if a laptop (you see why we need specs ;)) remove the battery and charger. Leave it for ~30 seconds and reconnect power then try to switch on?

The button should not "stay in" unless it is jammed. If I am reading correctly, you need to find a way to release or un-jam it. I have had that once or twice and if the button gets stuck, the computer won't work correctly.

Most desktop computers have a removable or pull-off front. That can cause problems if it is loose. If it is just "stuck ", get a pin or needle to get it back out and investigate why it is happening.
