The tweaks are still performing fine for me. The only problems I have had since doing them was an issue with high winds and trees causing the ISP problems.

I suspect that the problems are not at my end. I can browse one site with no problems but the next is acting up.

    Christer:

A little nourishment for that analytical brain while you sort through what works best for you ------->

I've gone from RWIN of 511104 to 255552 to 127776 and right now, perceptually, the 127776 seems to be my sweet spot. Running a speed test, 511104 still gives me the best downstream speed but the difference is negligable and as stated, perceptually (at least to my eyes) 127776 seems to be the optimum.

    ;)

    Rockster,
I have tried similar settings and found out that the recommended 1027840 works as good as any higher setting. That setting is recommended from 13000 kb/s and since the maximum selectable connection speed is 20000 kb/s, I increased the TCP Receive Window by X2 and X4 (to possibly match my 100 Mb/s) but that function is not linear which makes me shooting into the dark. I have not tested a setting lower than the recommended.

Maybe, if I find a server that can hit my system with 100 Mb/s, will I be able to find a TCP Receive Window that is optimized.

For what its worth, I've gone back to 255552 and am pretty happy - still cruising along better than my supposed 3MBS service.

    ;)

Hard Hat, Straw Hat or Felt Derby? I'm told it can make a difference.

Well, any proverbial hat will do but if possible, the one with the best muffling qualities should be chosen ... ... !
