That message is telling you that there is no connection to the internet, or to a device such as a router. No IP address is present.
Where do you get this popup? I'd guess it's from a network connection icon. Are you using wireless or wired connection? Which do you have an icon for by the clock?

It pops up now and then over my antivirus icon. I have wired cable service. I mean..everything else is working so I have to have an IP address no?

Open the Control Panel then Network Connections. Is there only one connection? Right click the Local Area Connection and select Properties. At the bottom of the properties dialog, uncheck the box labled, 'Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity' then click OK. See if the popup message stops. You may be able to recheck that box after a bit without getting the popup too.

Do you have a connection icon by the clock? Right click it and select status. The header of the status box should be labled the same as the connection it applies to. That's the connection to tweak the limited connection notification on.

I take it eTrust email protection still won't start?

I don't have an icon. I did however re install the anti virus and it's working fine. I think the other thing is gone also. Haven't seen it all morning! I can't thank you enough for your help and the time you've given. Hopefully I won't need it again~~ now if I could only keep my son off the computer that might actually be true!!
