Thanks again retired, as I originally posted I'm trying to move contacts from an old XP machine exported via .wab and .csv files into the native mail app in Win10. We don't have any trouble with her user profile.

Tony, my post #11 shows what happens when I try that method. That's when I get the "this doesn't appear to be a .csv file".
I've got her adding them one at a time a few per day. She should get them done in a month or so.
    Still very frustrating.

Sorry to revive this thread but i have another Windows 10 Mail App Question.
We are on a PC with Win10 using the native mail app. I was trying to get it to sync the inbox more often in settings.
The most often I can go is every two minutes. There is another setting called "based on usage" or something like that.
It says if I pick that it will save battery and data usage for my device.
The PC is connected to her server via Spectrum cable and should be looking constantly for new mail.
I do not see a place to tell the Mail App that it is not a mobile device and can check for mail more often.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Dan

Regarding the Windows 10 Mail App Question. my understanding is that an "as items arrive" choice appears in the dop down list for accounts using Microsoft proprietary Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) protocol, including Microsoft Exchange Server and Office 365. EAS was designed for mobile devices.

(quote) "When configuring e-mail, Exchange accounts default to 'as items arrive' but Hotmail, Yahoo & Gmail are set to have a synchronization time". Suggests the e-mail provider has to provide this option.

Google removed EAS support from personal Gmail in 2013 in an effort to move customers to paid products and push free Gmail users to mobile apps.

Some say that it may work with accounts set up for IMAP instead of POP, but I don't know that for sure, and it may depend on the provider.

My understanding is that the "as items arrive" choice will appear only if EAS is supported. You cannot change the mail to EAS.

AFAIK the old Microsoft Windows Live Mail email client is the only free email client which supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) and it is part of Windows Live Essentials 2012 suite which reached end of support on January 10, 2017.

Thanks antik, just another nail in the Win10 native mail app.
Why not just revive outlook express?
How does forcing everyone to gmail make money for MS?
    I just don't get it.
